When the Grant Thorold Library in Grimsby was replaced, the architectural team set out to create an energy-efficient and secure building filled with glass and natural light. The design also incorporated Britain's first living wall outside London, giving the new library a distinctive green exterior.

Polarwall was selected to form the main fabric of the structure beneath the living wall. To improve security, Polarwall's technical team worked with a specialist manufacturer to develop electric security shutters specifically for use with the building system.

The completed building combined energy-efficient construction, purpose-designed security features and a striking planted fasade, creating a practical community facility with a strong environmental identity.
