LEIGHTON HOSPITAL, CREWE
INDUSTRY:
Healthcare
CLIENT:
Mid Cheshire Hospitals
CONTACTOR:
Walter Carefoot PLC
PROJECT:
The refurbishment of the dementia ward at Leighton Hospital in Crewe to deliver a softer, friendlier, more relaxed and less clinical looking environment that patients will be able to move around more easily.
Axis was asked to supply and install doors to four bed bays, in different colours and with contrasting-coloured handles, to support the care and therapy the hospital gives dementia patients.
CHALLENGES:
Our main challenge for this project was the restricted structural openings that still required full height glazed doors with no mid-rail for maximum visibility.
SOLUTION:
The installation of our own, award-winning FLO-MOTION® B32 Manual Bi-parting doors with interstitial blinds, controlled by magnet for ‘tilt & turn’ function.
We were able to fit the track to both the frame within the opening and the adjacent wall, allowing the doors to slide across the wall, to optimise the use of the space.
All our FLO-MOTION® products are available in a variety of different colours with numerous glazing options so fulfilling the colour contrasting aspect of the brief was straightforward.
OUTCOME:
The newly refurbished dementia ward at Leighton Hospital provides a number of significant benefits, including:
- A friendlier environment with colour coding to help patients move around the ward more easily
- Staff and patients now have improved visibility of each other and privacy whenever required
- An improved patient experience that supports the care and therapy staff give patients
