PROJECT:

Frimley Health’s £100m planned care facility at Heatherwood Hospital, a new build centre of excellence for non-emergency patients, in Ascot, Berkshire.

Axis’s brief for this exciting project was to supply and install doors to the 22 day care pods, designed for privacy and efficiency that would help deliver planned care in a much-improved patient environment, built for modern needs.

CHALLENGES:

Our main challenge for this project was the space constraints within the day care area, so our solution needed to achieve its goals and be space efficient.

SOLUTION:

The installation of our own, award-winning FLO-MOTION® DOORS, to all 22 day care pods. The FLO-MOTION® telescopic doors with 55mm stiles provided the required slim line solution and the double glazed units with interstitial blinds, controlled by magnet for ‘tilt and turn’ function, ensured maximum visibility and privacy.

The telescopic door is classed as an ‘in-line’ package that allows for the frame to be installed at the first fix stage, allowing other trades to complete the walls and floors before the panels are fitted. 

The two sliding leaves are connected by a sequencing device so the primary leaf (fast door) reaches the fully opened or closed position at the same time as the secondary leaf (slow door) reaches its pre-set position.

Flo-Motion® doors feature recirculating ball guides on a special low resistance linear track with damper mechanisms that engage in at the fully open and fully closed positions. As there is minimum surface contact between the cassettes and the track, the doors can be opened and closed with fingertip control.

The brand new Heatherwood Hospital provides several significant benefits for patients and staff, including:
