The Challenge
Reckitt, one of the world’s leading health and hygiene manufacturers, needed to upgrade flooring across multiple production zones (A1–A6) at their Derby site. Years of use had led to wear that risked compromising hygiene compliance and cleanability.
The project was far from straightforward:
- The facility operates 24/7.
- Machinery could not be fully relocated.
- All works needed to meet GMP and ISO cleanroom standards.
- Any disruption could risk contamination, audit failure, or production loss.
The Solution
Abacus Flooring Solutions designed and delivered a fully phased installation plan to achieve a hygienic, durable finish without any operational downtime. Works included:
- Mechanical surface preparation to ensure strong adhesion and hygiene standards.
- Installation of Abacoat HB Steel high-build coatings (RAL 7011 and RAL 5002).
- Application of Polyseal UVR Silk topcoat for enhanced cleanability and long-term durability.
- Installation of PPE stencils and safety line markings to ensure compliance and safe traffic flow.
- Reinstatement of critical demarcation lines across aerosol production zones.
- Specialist application beneath and around fixed machinery where access was restricted.
All work was completed around live equipment, meeting GMP and ISO requirements.
