Stair rods add the finishing touch to your stair runner. Purely for decorative purposes, they beautifully showcase painted or stained stairways.
At Russdales, we have a stunning range of stair rods in a choice of designs and finishes. Whether you choose traditional brass, mirrored chrome, dramatic black or classic pewter, your stair rods will be made to order to ensure they fit and complement your stair runner perfectly.
How to measure stair rods
If you have a straight flight of stairs it is quite simple. First measure the full width of stairs then take off 100-150mm (4-6″) from each side and this will give you the size the runner should be. For instance, if the width of your stairs are 810mm (32″), your carpet runner would be 610mm (24″) or 510mm (20″) depending on desired look.
As soon as your runner width has been decided you can then confirm stair rod size. The rod size is 50mm (2″) wider on both sides so if a stair runner is 610mm wide the stair rod size is 710mm tip to tip. This allows for the bracket and fixings and leaves a gap between rod and skirting board, we can make rods any size required.
If you have a turn in the stairs (winders) usually in a set of 3, you will need to cut to shape, then measure the 50mm extra to each side. If you do have winders this is not a DIY job as needs experience to cut the carpet to correct size so looks like a continues piece.
