A bathroom is typically one of the smallest rooms in the house but it still requires a lot of planning. The most important thing to take into account when choosing the right flooring for your bathroom is water. It is inevitable that the bathroom floor will get wet. Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and Vinyl This is by far the most popular choice of flooring for the bathroom. It is highly waterproof, and it is also slip resistant making it ideal for areas where water spills are likely to be a daily occurrence. LVT and Vinyl are both incredibly easy to keep clean and maintain. Just a quick vacuum and a wash with a mop and your floor will look as good as new! With LVT, if you do have any issues you can simply replace one tile rather than the whole floor. Unlike other harder types of flooring, LVT and Vinyl are very comfortable underfoot, making it a top choice for bathroom flooring. Furthermore, it works extremely well with underfloor heating which is fast becoming a must-have in any modern bathroom. LVT and Vinyl flooring are available in a huge variety of designs, allowing you to achieve a traditional wooden, porcelain, ceramic or stone look without the hassle of fitting or upkeep. They are incredibly realistic, and therefore practical and stunning all at the same time. If you really want a wood finish you should opt for laminate flooring with a wooden finish or wood effect vinyl flooring. Another option would be Engineered Wood as this has a top layer of hardwood making it a durable flooring option even when wet. Stone Natural stone flooring is waterproof and durable, and it offers a very glamorous feel. It does however require a bit more maintenance than other flooring options as stone is porous. Therefore it needs to be sealed, and it will likely require regular re-sealing. Porcelain Porcelain tiles are also well suited as they are waterproof and also very easy to clean. They don’t require sealing or ongoing maintenance like stone but they can be very cold underfoot, so underfloor heating should be taken into consideration. Carpet Although carpet is very soft and warm underfoot, it can start to get mouldy and smell if it is constantly getting wet. Like wood, carpet can look great in other areas of the home but it is definitely not a durable choice of flooring in a wet bathroom.
