We recommend selecting the mat which is approximately (but not more than) 90% of the size of your room.\nWhilst we have size options which go up to 24 square metres, areas larger than 12 square metres are supplied using two mats which both easily link back to a single thermostat.\nWill Any Thermostat Work on Any Mat? We stock Dry Heat and Heatmiser thermostats. A single Heatmiser thermostat cannot be used on areas greater than 18 square metres. Mira X Plan fibre reinforced self levelling compound is ideal for use over underfloor heating cables. The compound is both flexible and suitable for pouring over XPS Insulation Boards, Marmox Boards, as well as over concrete or wooden substrates. Mira X Plan is the preferred choice compound for both Thermonet & Dry Heat.\nUsing Mira X Plan or any levelling compound serves a number of purposes. It covers the wires, providing protection for the heating cables during tiling. X-Plan also firms up the whole floor providing additional strength to the surface which is to be tiled. This prevents tiles from cracking due to movement in the subfloor. Finally, if a tile ever needs to be replaced the heatmat will not be damaged when the old tile is lifted.
