Having worked closely with the client to bring the first GRAB unit to life, we were appointed work on their second unit. Located in a listed building within The City of London; and being one of the smallest units we’ve ever worked on, created plenty of challenges!
Working with the restrictions of the listing of the building (no internal layout alterations and no external shopfront alterations, even having to retain the existing siganage) we squeezed in the required serving counter at ground floor and a small amount of seating within the basement.
The original GRAB was very ‘street’ however the style of this unit needed to be developed to be more sophisticated in look and quality of materials, whilst still retaining the rough feel of the brand and food offer. Lots of timber cladding and cement board provide the desired effect complete with cool neon signage set behind the shopfront so as not to effect the listed status.
