Project Value. £30K Bar £40K Restaurant
Operation. Bar and Restaurant
Set within a number of linked arches by Waterloo Station in London, Azzurro Italian Bar + Kitchen had been trading for several years and was in need of refreshing. Initially we re-designed the bar and, with a budget of only 30K, we decided the works should be more ‘installation’ rather than full refurbishment. By installing new lighting to highlight the arches and a glamorous bespoke seating feature in red leather, we improved the visual impact from the street and created interest beyond the entrance using a full height light wall.
Following the success of the bar, we were asked to update the restaurant making it bolder and more colourful whilst addressing its operational needs. We introduced a warm colour palette to enhance the rustic brickwork of the arches, and used lighting and range of seating styles, including luxurious leather and tweed banquettes, to create intimate, relaxed spaces within the large dining area without losing the drama of the overall space. Using a limited budget both the restaurant and bar have been successfully transformed into inviting and dramatic spaces which complement each other.
