Not necessarily. The mechanical boards come with a stainless steel frame and pre-drilled holes so you can mount them directly onto a solid surface. If the board will be in a secure area, you may not need a cabinet. But if overnight security is required (e.g. storing keys in a safe), then they offer steel cabinets. These cabinets can double key capacity by holding a board on the back of the door and another inside. The cabinets also feature four-point night shoot bolts for enhanced overnight security.
