Premium 5.3Kw Grid-Tie Self-Consumption Solar Power Kit With Lg Solar Panels, 5.5Kw Hybrid Inverter And 24Kwh Battery Bank
Product Code: SCKIT-5300P
This Premium 5.3kW 48V Complete Grid-Tie Solar Power System is designed to reduce energy bills with a focus on self-consumption of solar energy. The kit is fitted with the best-selling solar modules from the world-leading solar manufacturer, LG Solar, and seamlessly integrates with the national power grid, offering a comprehensive solution for users. It is especially beneficial for those with high electricity consumption, such as when using electric and plug-in vehicles, swimming pools, air conditioners, and heat pumps. This kit is designed around the principle of power independence, maximising the capability to use all of the available solar power locally, and so significantly reducing electricity bills. The system includes an energy meter that precisely measures the power flow to appliances, enabling it to match the domestic energy consumption with the self-generated solar energy. This approach maximises the self-consumption of solar energy within the house and minimizes energy export to the grid.
The kit only starts exporting energy to the grid when the battery bank is full and the household appliances no longer need additional energy. In such situations, all available excess solar power flows into the public grid.
The innovative inverter operates efficiently in grid-tie, hybrid, off-grid, and UPS modes, ensuring uninterrupted power supply even during mains power cuts. Advanced monitoring features enable users to keep track of the battery bank through a mobile app connected via Bluetooth, with optional Wi-Fi connectivity (sold separately) and remote portal monitoring capabilities available for added convenience.
The inverter is fully compliant with G98/G99 standards required for grid-tie installation and is easily upgradable. Users can integrate a separate solar array via an additional MPPT solar controller, which can be added to the system at any time, perfect for more complex roof spaces. Although the kit includes an AGM lead-acid battery bank, it is also compatible with Lithium batteries, allowing for greater flexibility in storage options.
14 x 380W Black LG Monocrystalline Solar Panels with Cello technology™:
These high-quality 380W black solar panels, manufactured by LG Solar—a division of global company LG Electronics and winner of the Intersolar and Top Brand PV industry awards—offer superior performance with an industry-leading 25-year warranty. The panels are fully waterproof and designed for strong performance in a wide range of environments. These robust panels continue to perform well even in high temperatures or low irradiance – up to 30% more power than similar panels under high temperature conditions. They are rated for a load of up to 6,000Pa from the front, equivalent to being buried under 1.8m of snow, and a rear load of 5,400Pa which is greater than the force applied by hurricane-strength winds.
The exclusive Cello Technology™ enhances efficiency and reliability of these panels by replacing the small number of wide busbars in standard solar panels with nine thin wires. With decreased spacing between wires, electrical losses are reduced by giving electrical current a shorter path to travel. Cylindrical cross-section keeps resistance low while deflecting more light onto the solar cell, unlike flat busbars which reflect light that hits them away from the panel. The tight layout of the wires also gives electricity multiple paths, enhancing long-term reliability through added redundancy.
5500W 48V Iconica Hybrid Inverter:
The Iconica 5500W 48V hybrid grid-tie inverter boasts advanced 3-in-1 hybrid functionality, combining a pure sine wave inverter, an MPPT solar charge controller, and a smart mains charger. It offers highly customisable settings for various parameters (max. feed-in power, charging voltages, battery type, etc.) and advanced communication options, including remote monitoring via a Wi-Fi connection kit. Additionally, the inverter supports seamless integration with an energy meter for optimised self-consumption and features an illuminated LCD screen displaying real time data. Compatible with various battery types, this inverter is a versatile and efficient solution for modern energy needs.
The inverter features three main operating modes:
Grid-tie mode: Energy generated by solar panels is fed back to the national grid.
Grid-tie with battery backup: Generated solar power can be used to feed energy back to the grid, supply power to the load and charge the battery. Mains electricity can also be used to power the load and charge the battery. In this mode the user can configure PV energy supply priority, charging source priority, and load supply source priority. When solar power is not sufficient to power the load, or if mains power is unavailable, the battery will act as a ‘back up’ and continue to power the load (e.g. at night when there is no solar power or during a mains power cut). ‘Peak’ and ‘Off-peak’ times for electricity demand can also be set, in order to prioritise either load power supply or battery charging.
Off-grid mode: Utilises solar energy to power loads or charge batteries without feeding power back to the grid, while still allowing mains power usage if necessary. In this mode the user can configure PV energy supply priority, charging source priority, and load supply source priority.
Using a Grid-tie operation with battery backup offers significant advantages over standard grid-tie inverters by ensuring uninterrupted power and reducing electricity costs. During power outages, standard grid-tie inverters shut down completely, leaving users without electricity and wasting solar energy. In contrast, this advanced inverter utilises stored battery power to maintain an uninterrupted power supply (UPS), keeping appliances running and continuing to harvest energy from solar panels. As electricity prices rise and subsidies for grid-fed power decrease, maximising self-consumption becomes crucial. The system can prioritise using stored solar energy with ‘peak’ and ‘off-peak’ settings to restrict mains power usage during periods where electricity cost is higher, thereby reducing reliance on the grid and lowering overall electricity costs. This approach ensures that solar energy is effectively utilised, enhancing both energy independence and cost efficiency.
