Project details:
Sybil Andrews Academy is a £22M new-build middle school in the town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. Based on an attractive university-style campus, the school has been designed to accommodate 900 students initially but has the ability to expand to a capacity of 1400 pupils, as well as to include a sixth form.
Furnitubes has supplied concrete seating products from the Blyth and Fortis ranges to the scheme, most of which were placed along paths and on boundaries between hard and soft landscape areas, to provide extensive informal seating provision around the site. The concrete was supplied in a dark grey mix and acid etched finish to compliment the colour pallet of the hard landscape materials and surrounding architecture. Additional products supplied to the scheme include Eltham stainless bollards used for demarcation purposes between vehicular and pedestrian areas outside the school boundary.
Overall the new school has been seen as a great success in its first academic year, with positive feedback from both parents and students.
