Project details:
The new design for this nine form-entry secondary school in Bromley-by Bow, East London included a large landscaped area between the three main school buildings.
A three-tier amphitheatre of over 50 metres forms an integral aspect of the grounds. There was a requirement to enable it to function as a stepped play area as well as a seating gallery. Furnitubes’ wood plastic composite slats (WPC environmentally friendly alternative to freshly-sawn new timber) were specified by the landscape architect due to their resistance to UV, weathering and rot, making them an ideal long-term maintenance solution. Using Furnitubes WPC ensured that the slats would retain their colour for many, many years without any of the typical maintenance problems related to timber. Also, the site needed to provide flexible and robust outdoor dining for students. Furnitubes designed and supplied sleek, modern and mobile bench and table designs built to withstand intensive use by sixth formers. Other products supplied for the grounds include: pond decking, dual recycling bins, cycle stands and bollards.
