Japanese knotweed is one of the most problematic plants in Britain, as it’s name suggests, it originated from Japan and was initially seen as a decorative plant and a source of food for livestock. It is thought to have been introduced to the UK in around 1890.
The vigorous growth can damage buildings, structures and hard surfaces, and once it becomes established it can become particularly hard to control.
