Life as an engineering apprentice at Elite Precast Concrete
Continuing our apprenticeship spotlight, we’re sharing the story of Agy Serafin, who is currently completing an engineering apprenticeship with Elite Precast.
Here’s what Agy had to say:
“I’m currently studying a Level 4 Lead Manufacturing Engineer apprenticeship at Telford College, alongside my role as an Engineering Apprentice at Elite Precast. This apprenticeship allows me to combine academic study with hands-on industry experience, which has really helped me develop my technical skills and understanding of production engineering.
“My studies at Telford College have given me a strong foundation in engineering principles, industrial processes and problem-solving. CAD (computer-aided design) is an important part of my course, and I’ve learned how to create, modify and improve components to meet specifications and quality standards. Understanding the theory behind engineering decisions has also helped me see how designs become real, functional products.
“My apprenticeship at Elite has been hugely beneficial to my personal development. As an engineering apprentice, I’ve been able to use my CAD skills in a real-world environment, supporting projects and contributing to design and production tasks. I also take part in quality testing, helping to ensure concrete strength meets the required standards. That experience has shown me the importance of quality control, accuracy and compliance in manufacturing.
“Elite has introduced me to professional engineering practices, teamwork, and the importance of consistently meeting high standards. Working alongside experienced engineers has helped me build confidence, strengthen my technical abilities and understand how engineering solutions move from design through to manufacture.
“I genuinely enjoy my apprenticeship at Elite. The team is supportive, approachable and always willing to share their knowledge, which has made my learning experience both enjoyable and motivating. Elite has created an environment where I feel valued and encouraged to develop my skills and progress my career. I’m proud to be an apprentice at Elite and grateful for the opportunities and support the company continues to provide as I work towards becoming a qualified Lead Manufacturing Engineer.”
