Specialist Suppliers Of GU UNI-JET Failsafe Sash Positioner 9-39413
The GU UNI-JET Failsafe Sash Positioner 9-39413, also known as a mishandling device or sash lifter, is a core component of the GU UNI-JET hardware range. It’s designed to solve two common window issues: accidental disengagement of the sash and sagging over time. Function of the sash positioning device This device locks the handle movement when the window is open or tilted position. This prevents the user from accidentally turning the handle to the tilt position while the window is already turned, which can cause the sash to fall away from the top hinge. As the window closes, the positioner makes contact with the sash lift keep (sold separately), gently lifting the sash into the correct alignment. This reduces stress on the hinges and gearbox, especially on large or heavy triple-glazed units. Set with caution! This G-U UNI-JET part is supplied non-handed. Once set as either left or right-handed, it cannot be changed. Please use caution when setting up for use. Features Fits GU UNI-JET drive gears Prevents misoperation of the gearing when the window is open Avoids damage to tilt gearing as the device stops the sash being positioned incorrectly Integrated sash lifting Stamped code 9-39413 Genuine branded G-U (Gretsch-Unitas) part made in Germany Supplied non-handed (cannot be changed once set into position) FAQs My window handle is stuck and won’t move while the window is open.
Is the part broken?
No, this is the part performing its safety function. As a mishandling device, it prevents the handle from turning while the sash is open to avoid damage to the hinges. To move the handle for maintenance while the window is open, simply press the spring-loaded metal lever on the sash lift flush against the metal strip to unlock the mechanism.
Does it matter if my window is Left-Hand or Right-Hand opening?
No, this specific G-U Uni-Jet model (9-39413 / 6-29987) is a universal component. It’s designed to work effectively on both left and right-handed Tilt & Turn window systems.
Can I install this part if my window didn’t originally have a sash lift?
Yes, provided your window uses the GU Uni-Jet drive gear system with a 16mm groove. Please note that for the lifting function to work, you will also need to install a corresponding Sash Lift Keep on the window frame for the positioner to climb onto.
My metal part has 9-39413 stamped on it, but the listing says 6-29987. Are they the same?
Yes. The number 9-39413 is the casting number moulded into the metal part during manufacturing. The number 6-29987-00-0-1 is the official G-U Article Number used for ordering the complete finished component. They are the same part.
Why is my window still sagging even after replacing this sash lift?
Check the sash lift keep located on your window frame. If this frame-side component is missing, broken, or improperly aligned, the sash lift will have nothing to sit on, and the window will not be lifted into the correct position when closed.
Does this sash lift come with fixing screws?
Fixing screws are typically sold separately to allow for different window materials (PVC, Timber, or Aluminium). We recommend using high-quality window repair screws from our Fixings & Fasteners section for a secure installation.
