Sestrin-2 belongs to the family of globin-like α-helix-fold proteins, consisting of 23 helices and no β-sheets. It functions in the regulation of cell growth and survival. It has a protective effect on physiological and pathological states mainly via regulating, oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress, autophagy, metabolism and inflammation.
