As an architectural hardware specialist we were delighted to see the new Nottingham Station Transport Hub renovations complete with blast-enhanced hardware we supplied. The main contractor for this £60 million refurbishment project was Taylor Woodrow.
The glass façade was installed by Red Systems who appointed glazing and security consultant Crossley Consult Limited for specialist design and development activities. Together they selected Sadev glass systems available from Barrier Components.
The Sadev stainless steel bolt fixed system is a perfect solution for point fixed glass facades. In this case the R1003BBR fixing was used, a swivel fitting with cylindrical head for single laminated glazing. The system is also available as R1039BBR for an insulated glazing unit. Both products have been ISO EXV 25 tested at a Government approved test range and achieved a hazard rating C – Minimal Hazard.
“We were delighted to be the appointed a supplier for this prestigious contract,” said Graham Walker, Jt Managing Director of Barrier Components Ltd.
“Projects requiring bomb blast hardware are unfortunately increasing in the UK and we are fairly unique in providing purely the architectural hardware and technical advise for it, allowing the glazing contractor to supply the glass from their own suppliers and therefore the project overall at a more realistic price.”
