BAU Trade Fair & The value of strong supplier relationships

14-02-2025

At Axis Entrance Systems, we invest significant time and resources into developing strong customer relationships—and we place equal importance on our supplier partnerships. This approach has built trusted, long-term relationships with world-class partners, delivering clear benefits for us, our suppliers and, crucially, our customers.

The benefits

  • Clear, transparent communication

  • Realistic expectations set and met

  • Fewer issues with availability, quality and delays

  • Faster, smoother problem resolution

  • Reduced risk through mutual trust and respect

  • Efficiency gains from shared ideas and feedback

  • Innovation through collaboration

  • Ongoing opportunities to build and strengthen partnerships

We achieve this by spending meaningful time with suppliers and prospective partners. The more time we spend together, the better we understand each other’s requirements and how we can add value to the relationship.

BAU, Munich, 13–17 January 2025

January provided the perfect opportunity to nurture these relationships when our MD, Rob Brunero, attended BAU in Munich—the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems, held biennially.

Rob’s three-day highlights

BAU brings together the global community involved in planning, designing and constructing buildings—an ideal setting to share ideas, see new products, and reconnect with contacts. With 18 halls, 2,600 exhibitors and 190,000 visitors, it was impossible to see everything in three days, but several supplier meetings stood out.

DOORSON
Alongside the popular 300 Series of automatic doors, Doorson launched the new 330 energy-efficient range, comprising single-slide, bi-parting and telescopic formats—available in the UK later this year via Axis. The models feature thermally broken frames suitable for triple glazing (thermal conductivity down to 1.0 W/m²K) and RC3 security-rated systems to EN 1627, with the clean, elegant lines Doorson is known for. The award-winning 500EFS fire-rated automatic door with breakout capability was also on display. Despite a very busy stand, Patrik, Aleksander and the team found time for highly productive discussions.

FACE
FACE showcased an eye-catching range with the trademark Italian design flair. We’ve successfully installed the SW80 swing door operator on multiple projects and were excited to see the upcoming second-generation products—particularly the new SW70 operator, just 70 mm high, offering smooth, quiet operation.

HOTRON
Our long-standing partners at Hotron provided their usual warm welcome. Their stand featured a strong line-up of proven products, including the latest SSS5 swing door safety sensor, and became a great networking hub to catch up with wider contacts.

BEA
BEA presented an impressive suite of activation and safety sensors, pushing laser technology forward. A demonstration of the Orascan sensor for automatic sliding doors underlined its “peace of mind” proposition. BEA also showcased a new intuitive swing door sensor using an interactive floor to demonstrate how the doors adjust to approach angle, speed and user trajectory—smart, safe and adaptive.

New contacts and products
We also met several new suppliers with innovative products that may suit our portfolio once all appropriate testing and validations are complete.

In summary

A highly worthwhile and enjoyable visit that strengthened existing partnerships, opened the door to new ones and provided plenty of fresh ideas—exactly the outcome we aim for.
