Horizontal mortice locks were more common before the introduction of lever handles. The Zoo Horizontal Mortice Latch - More Handles stock a great selection of horizontal mortice locks from Zoo Architectural Hardware. Horizontal mortice locks are often used to replace the old Victorian locks fitted in more period properties. A horizontal mortice lock allows the key and lever handle or knob to be at the same height, which reduces the risk of catching a finger in the door. Please use a heavier sprung lock such as the imperial door lock version (G3011) This range is built from 3 lever designs intended for internal door use. NOTE: NOT suitable for fitting with a heavy un-sprung door knob. As the name suggests these locks provide a deeper fixing for the handle into the door than dead locks or sashlocks.
