This product is of a rustic nature and is designed to both look and feel as if it has been in use for many years. The finish is left unlacquered for authenticity. If desired, this can be easily removed by using light oil (such as WD 40) and a fine grade wire wool. This knob has a Hammered top to it which gives it that old, battered look and will be the perfect finish to and older looking household. Ordinarily when regularly used, this product develops it's own patina, but should you wish to afford additional protection, we recommend Maintenance Wax be applied, which will give the iron a protective seal against any moisture. This antique iron cupboard knob is hand-finished using traditional methods.
