A Contemporary Look towards modern learning
Downer Cladding was pleased to offer a HELPING HAND® supporting the decorative façade panels for the New Bexhill High School. In addition to the stylish and trendy building, a new method to the learning style was implemented, including classes of up to 90 pupils taught by a team of teachers. The modern attitude required a building to compliment this new approach.
Major elevations of the new school building were installed with the Downer DCS031 Primary Support System which provided a fully adjustable platform to receive the decorative, face fixed Marley Eternit facade panels. The project; costing almost £40m was mostly funded by a government grant with East Sussex County Council investing about £4m into the project. With the Council and School committed to ensuring minimal disruption to the students’ education; construction work was carefully planned and coordinated. Downer’s aluminium sub frame was therefore ideal, offering both a quick and easy installation process.
The exciting and innovative design was not only acknowledged to improve the quality of the learning environment but achieved a BREEAM rating of "very good", meeting the government’s 60% per cent carbon reduction target.
Downer Cladding Systems offer a full range of external wall cladding solutions and believe in keeping aesthetics, quality,
economy and support at the core of their offering. The Wall Cladding Framing Systems are all fully engineered, constructed from modern high strength aluminium alloys. This project utilised the Downer DCS031 HELPING HAND® Framing System providing rapid installation and reduced costs. The system incorporates HELPING HAND® wall brackets fixed back to the substrate, which provide an adjustable system allowing for thermal and structural movement. Cavity depths ranging between 65mm-425mm. The system is ideal for low to medium height buildings with solid masonry or stud frame walls.
